Qualifications to Become a Police Officer in Connecticut

Please review the following qualifications for a Police Officer position. You must meet ALL requirements in order to be considered.

Candidates must:

  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Be 21 years or older
  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Have a valid Motor Vehicle Operator license
  • Have absolutely NO felony, domestic violence, class A misdemeanor, or class B misdemeanor convictions
  • Pass an extensive background investigation including personal history, motor vehicle law convictions, and a polygraph examination
  • Pass a psychological examination
  • Pass a controlled substance screening
